Dr. Kim Gaetz is a Public Health Epidemiologist with the NC Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) at the NC Division of Public Health. She has collaborated with local, state, and federal partners on occupational lead exposure cluster investigations and, most recently, has coordinated a study on lead in spices, herbal remedies, and ceremonial powders in North Carolina. Dr. Gaetz also assists with management and cleaning of blood lead data, training of local healthcare providers and environmental health specialists, and creation of training resources and policy documents for the Children’s Environmental Health Unit. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of North Carolina (UNC), Asheville in 2001 and earned masters’ (2008) and doctorate degrees (2014) in Epidemiology from UNC, Chapel Hill.
